Biography
Poorani Gnanasambandan is a PhD at the Transparent and Optically Tunable Electronics group in the Materials Research and Technology (MRT) Department of LIST. Her research focuses on investigating high performance transparent conducting materials and designing them to be compatible with the solar cells.
Prior to joining LIST, she worked as a research assistant at Amrita University Bengaluru performing charge transport and photo-absorption studies in Organic Photovoltaics, the project funded by ISRO. She focused on improving light absorption through surface patterning and light-trapping structures.
She holds an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology awarded by Katholieke Universieteit Leuven, Belgium and Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. During her Master studies, she specialized in nanoelectronics with synthesis and characterisation of thin film devices and carried out her master thesis titled ‘Topological Kondo effect with Majorana Fermions’ at Gothenburg University under the supervision of Prof. Henrik Johannesson.
She received her Bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Thiagarajar college of Engineering located in her hometown Madurai, India.
